Margarita, born December 1993
A bright and engaging girl, Margarita has big plans for her future. "I want to be a veterinarian," she explained. "Because I love animals." Bright-eyed, she described her pets at home. "I have two fish and a dog," she said. She smiled proudly as she described the family dog. The dog's name, she said, is "Natalie. It's a Rottweiler." This big cuddly dog has truly stolen Margarita's heart.
A pretty typical pre-teen, Margarita enjoys a variety of activities. From hanging out with friends to cooling off in the pool, she finds all sorts of ways to spend her free time. If she were to make the perfect weekend plan, she said, it would include time for "hang(ing) out with friends, movies, (the) mall." While she loves shopping, Margarita admits that she is not typically heading for the jewelry or clothing stores right off the bat. Instead, she heads to another - more exciting - destination. "I like to play video games, so the video game store," she said.
Over the summer, Margarita took time to enjoy being a kid. "I went swimming and I went to a camp and rode horsesc and then I went to Texas." She said that her favorite part of going to camp was spending time with the horses. She had never been horse back riding before and the adventure of this new activity was right up her alley. The only drawback, she said, was that the horse she chose was a little unpredictable. "Like if I kicked him, he'd run. But sometimes he'd walk."
Now that school is back in session, Margarita is making the most of her time in the classroom. She is a smart and eager learner who seems to thrive, both socially and academically. A seventh grader, she especially loves social studies "'cause I like to learn about history and things that happened in the past."
Upon return from school in the afternoon, this young lady likes to listen to music, watch TV and spend time with her friends. When it comes to music, Margarita has hip taste. "I like R&B, old school rap and basically all kinds of musicc. Magic City, Tupac (Shakur) and Chris Brown." R&B vocalist Chris Brown is her very favorite artist for one simple reason. "He discusses his life in his music," she explained.
This bright and bubbly girl said that she enjoys being a part of her foster family. There, she explained, "We're treated like family - not fosters." She would love to join an adoptive family that can give her the permanence and belonging that she craves. Margarita's ideal family will include two parents with younger brothers or sisters in the home. She would also consider being an only child. She would love to have an active family that takes trips and spends quality time together.
Describing herself, Margarita said that she is "funny, caring, like to have a good time and loving." She would love to find a fun-loving family where she will blend right in. Her new family should be able to provide structure, consistency and, like Margarita, have a positive outlook on life. This positive type of environment will help her to blossom into a successful, well-rounded teen.
