Child Profiles
Danny, born January 1996
With a sparkle in his eye and a sweet, caring smile, Danny is a boy who has a simple and friendly charm. Meeting Scott Light and the Wednesday’s Child production crew at the Fiddlesticks Family Fun Park in Scottsdale recently, Danny had no problem introducing himself. “Hi, I'm Danny and I'm ten,” he said with a shy grin.
Walking through the double doors, his big brown eyes lit up with excitement. He looked around, taking in all of the bright lights and sounds of video games and token machines.
Fiddlesticks was the perfect place for this active boy. There was so much for him to do. He wanted to try everything: “go carts, miniature golf, arcade and a laser tag, even though I don’t know how to play.”
To start, Danny raced around the go cart track, smiling and looking backwards as he kept the lead… two full car lengths ahead of Light. Despite winning the race, Danny confessed that his driving skills are not quite as developed as they could be. “I know how to drive them but I'm not a good driver,” he giggled.
In his free time, Danny enjoys all sorts of activities, especially ones that give him the opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors. Like most boys his age, bike riding is a big hit. He loves feeling the wind blow through hair as he takes his bike for a spin. He also relishes any opportunity to bounce on the backyard trampoline.
An athletic child, Danny loves playing Sports. “Soccer (and) baseball,” he noted, are his favorites to play. Danny’s favorite position on the baseball diamond is “the outfield, I think,” he said. His reasoning is simple. In the outfield, “I get more energy out!”
During quiet times at home, Danny likes to draw, play with matchbox cars and watch television. Cartoons are on the top of his programming list, with SpongBob SquarePants sliding in to take first place honors on his list of favorites.
Entering the fifth grade this year, Danny is a good student who works hard in the classroom. He admits that school can sometimes be hard, but notes that he does his best, scholastically and behaviorally. Danny’s favorite subjects are Math and recess.
At home, Danny is enjoying the company of a new four legged friend. “We have a new dog…. He's six months old. He's a kinda’ of gold - goldish fur.” Danny loves spending time with this new puppy and all of the other dogs his foster family has. Danny will do well with a family that enjoys spending quality time with their pets.
A sensitive and caring young man, Danny would love to be part of a permanent, loving family. His ideal family includes two parents, older brothers and sisters and plenty of family time together. It is important that his new family understands Danny’s emotional and behavioral needs and is able to advocate strongly for him academically.
Most of all, Danny looks forward to spending time with a committed and loving family. He cannot wait to find a family eager to share his passion for life, whether it is playing soccer and baseball together or heading to the neighborhood park for an afternoon of fun.
