Cody, born 1997

For Cody, there is but one love in his life. The stuff of boyhood fantasy: Star Wars. This kid just cannot get enough of it.

Meeting 12 News Today anchor, Scott Light, at the Phoenix Museum of History recently, Cody was eager to look around and learn about the past. But when Light asked him about his very favorite subject, this seemingly quiet boy smiled brightly and was eager to share.

"So, you love Star Wars," Light asked him, not realizing the flood gates he had just opened.

Codyfs eyes lit up. "Uh huh," he said, sitting forward.

"I have the video games, all the movies," he shared. Then, he was ready to tell Light everything he knew about the saga. "And I'm gonnaf tell you one thing about the Empire Strikes Back. The ice planet that Luke Skywalker is on, it's called Hoth," he explained. His eyebrows raised as he decided on another exciting tidmit to share. "The guys with the masks, they're call Snow Troopers. And then the rebels - the guys trying to kill those big machines - the big machines are called Atat Walkers."

Light seemed impressed. "What's your favorite one (in the series)," he asked.

"The Return of the Jedi - because of the ewaks."

Light decided to quiz Cody. "What are ewaks?"

Cody was up for the challenge. "The little fuzzy guys with the spears and everything." He then added a few more fun facts. "And Darth Vader is the Sith lord and Luke Skywalker is a Jedi, and Darth Vader is Luke Skywalkerfs father!"

Without a doubt, Cody is one of George Lucasfs biggest fans. And while the first three movies in the series were made many years before he was born, he says that they are by far the best. He watches the DVDs over and over at home.

When he is not engrossed in the epic dramas of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, Cody finds other activities to fill his time. He is a sports enthusiast who loves playing sports almost as much as he likes cheering on his favorite teams. At school, football is his sport of choice. He and his frienda love to get together for quick scrimmage games on the playground. And if he is catching a Monday Night Football games or big ESPN events, Cody hopes that his teams will be playing. "The Steelersc and the Bearsc and also the Cubs."

"If you could plan out your best weekend, what would you do if you could do anything," Light asked Cody. Once again, the ten-year-old lit up with excitement.

"I would basically go to Disneyland or play my video games or buy new toys," he answered.

When Light asked Cody what video games he would play, the conversation led back to Codyfs favorite topic. "Star Wars! Star Wars Battlefront and sometimes Star Wars Star Fighters."

When asked his favorite foods, Cody had a short list. "My favorite food is hamburgers and hot dogs and fish and all that."

A fourth grader this year, Cody is an eager student with a great attitude in the classroom.

"What's the best part about 4th grade," Light asked him.

Without skipping a beat, Cody said, "Probably learning."

He noted that his favorite subjects include science and history, while his most challenging class is math.

After they sat for a while getting to know one another, Light and Cody decided to head into the museum and take part in the scavenger hunt.

"You ready," Light asked as he opened the glass door leading into the museum.

"Yeah. Whatfs in there," Cody asked, walking into the door and making a b-line for the nearby galleries. As always, he was eager to take in the sights and sounds of this new and fascinating place. And eager to learn as much as he could.

When it comes to his ideal adoptive family, Cody would prefer a two-parent family with few or no other children in the home. He craves individual attention and is very comfortable conversing with adults. His new family should be able to provide consistency, positive reinforcement and a great deal of love and attention for this bright young man. They should also be eager to share Cody's enthusiasm for life, learningc and the force.
