Sixteen year old Melvin enjoys spending time as a family unit; he also enjoys being a helper around the house and with yard work. One of Melvin’s favorite things to do is to listen to loud music and dance. He also enjoys watching football, swimming and riding his “green machine” (tricycle). His current placement has a piece of farm land with cows and chickens and he likes spending time there to help care for the animals. Melvin loves to learn and experience new activities. He is always joining in on the activities of others around him. Melvin can be described as a social butterfly, friendly, caring and a helper.
Melvin is in the 10th grade and has an IEP in place. He does well in school and seems to enjoy his time there.
Melvin will do well in a variety of family settings. He would do well with other children, but would need to have his own room. He will need a family that has experience with DDD and special needs. Melvin will need a family that can love and support him into adulthood.
