Foster Care

Our foster care program gives families the opportunity to have a positive life impact on children who have come into the state s care as a result of abuse, neglect and abandonment.

AASK's foster care services include foster family preparation & training, child/family matching services, post-placement monitoring & advocacy and family support services.

Who are children in foster care?

Children in foster care are great kids who have experienced not-so-great beginnings. Their early years have included abuse, neglect, and abandonment, they are often scared, confused, angry, lonely and sad. But like all other kids, they have hopes, dreams and the desire to love and be loved. They are youngsters who need loving adults to protect and nurture them.

What is the role of the foster family?

Foster families open their hearts and homes to children who need them. They are entrusted to love, nurture and protect these children, knowing that their time with them is only temporary. Foster parents are there in good times and bad, instilling in the children the skills they will need to face life s challenges and opportunities.
