New Rules: AZ Foster Care Tax Credit

A donation to AASK qualifies for Arizona's foster care tax credit - which may mean a dollar-for-dollar reduction of the state tax you owe. Here's what's new in 2016:

New in 2016, the Foster Care Charitable Giving tax credit is an entirely separate tax credit than the Charitable Giving tax credit.

— You can give up to $500 (single) or $1,000 (couple filing jointly) to be eligible to take a Foster Care Charitable Giving tax credit.
— The tax credit deadline was extended from December 31 to April 15, 2017. You no longer have a deadline in December.
— Not all charities qualify for the Arizona Tax Credit. You can find a list of qualified charities here. You'll find AASK on the QFCO giving list.

Tax Credit

Beginning in 2016, tax credit gifts to qualifying foster care organizations are completely separate from both school tax credit gifts and gifts to other charitable organizations.
